Lyrics: I know I’ve done something bad— some will say it’s something awful— but no one knows quite how hard every single night was, over the edge— over the edge— I know I’ve done something wrong— I know some will say it’s something awful— but no one else knows how long I had to keep up the fight for— so tell me I was always strong, tell me I reflect well on my mother. Show me all the smiles I’ve known, and promise me they’ll look after each other, over the edge— over the edge— like the wave, the pull and curl— like a drum, the beat and verb— like a bird, the wheel and bank, the dive and glide and swoop across the water— when the starlings come back— when the starlings come, starlings come back— how could they not know the changes? How could they not know the changes? How could they not know the changes? How could they not know the changes?

about

'Over the Edge and Into the Deep End' is a dizzying post-punk elegy, lyrically exploring grief and memory over skittish drums and waterlogged synths.

The b-side, '6ft', uses drums from the Rachel Garrett Archive. Formerly of Brighton post-punk band grasshopper, Rachel sadly passed away in 2020; this single is a tribute to her and her talent.
